THE FINAL of the NatWest ODI Series produced an improbable draw between England and Australia ahead of the first Ashes showdown. The tourists posted a meagre total of 196 for England’s finest to chase – the batting order was decimated by Harmison (pictured) and Flintoff, following a promising opening partnership between Gilchrist and Hayden – only for an equally dramatic collapse in the home ranks. Lee and McGrath steamed in with fierce intent, reducing England to 33-5. Then came Collingwood and Jones, scoring 124 between them to tie the match at 196 runs apiece.
