IT PROVED a rare weekend in Premier League football as none of the so-called ‘big four’ managed to find the back of the net.

The fact that neither Chelsea nor Liverpool were able to break down stubborn Newcastle and Fulham defences at home respectively failed to inspire chasing Manchester to overcome Aston Villa in yet another goalless draw- Arsenal found themselves even further away from scoring as Manchester City romped to a 3-0 home victory.

Further down the table sixth and eighth-placed Hull and Portsmouth shared a 2-2 draw as Bolton, West Ham, Wigan and Tottenham climbed away from the relegation zone with important wins over Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Everton and Blackburn.

One division down former Portugal midfield great Paulo Sousa gave an unsuccessful debut as QPR first team coach as his new club crashed 3-0 at Watford.
