Honk! promises  to be ‘eggcellent’

This Easter, The Algarveans Experimental Theatre Group presents Honk! The  Musical, a show with a twist.

Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale and from the songwriters of Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, Honk! is a family show for all ages.

It hatched at the Lagoa Auditorium yesterday (Thursday), with a further performance tonight (Friday) at 8pm and a matinee (3pm) and evening performance (8pm) tomorrow.

Directed by Chris Winstanley, this funny story is awash with puns and boasts an uplifting musical score and larger than life characters.

The story is a timeless tale that will be enjoyed by people of all walks of life, from ducklings to swans, with a heartening theme of the acceptance of others.

Chris Winstanley said: “Time Out in London described the original show as “Stonkingly Brilliant”, we just want our version to be eggcellent!”

The cast of Honk! includes Ian and Karen Carfrae, who have great musical experience and have performed up and down the Algarve in their band Class Act for several years.

Talented newcomer João Prata takes the leading role of Ugly, the young duck who learns he is somehow different from his siblings.

Chris said: “The cast of nearly 30 boasts some great talent and a mixture of experience. Rehearsals have been running since last September. For a spectacular Easter treat for all the family, Honk! The Musical is an absolute must.”

The Algarve Resident is proud to be the English language media partner of this show.
