Póvoa de Varzim council has honoured three workers at a waste recycling plant who turned in an envelope containing cash and checks found amongst the rubbish.
According to national press, the envelope containing €4,407 must have been dropped into a recycling bin by mistake, most probably by someone on the way to the bank.
The money has reportedly been returned to the bank in question.
