In the Algarve, eight-time national champion António Sobrinho secured his first title of the season by taking the Iberian Golf Tour PGA Portugal Series Quinta do Vale event.
The Vale do Lobo pro shot a three-under-par round of 69 on the Seve Ballesteros-designed course to see off the opposition.
Meanwhile another Algarvian, Ricardo Santos, came close to a second successive European Tour top ten finish at the French St Omer Open before a disappointing closing round of 72 saw him finish in 24th place.
Elsewhere also Algarve-based Jose Maria Joia was the only Portuguese player to reach the second round at the British Amateur Championships before being eliminated by Scotland’s Greg Paterson.
