Hollywood sands now open

FIESA’S INTERNATIONAL sand sculpture festival was due to open on schedule yesterday (Thursday), despite heavy rainfall earlier in the week which damaged some of the sand sculptures after they were completed.

A new team quickly repaired the damage ready for the opening of the 6th sand sculpture festival.

Around 35,000 tonnes of sand have been sculpted within the 15,000sqm site to represent the Hollywood theme, with sculptures representing renowned films such as Casablanca, Star Wars, Psycho, King Kong and Indiana Jones, among others. Actors have also been sculpted in the sand, including Marylin Monroe, James Dean and Charlie Chaplin.
