Vilamoura is the best location in the Algarve for golfers, according to a study by Holidu.
The search engine for holiday rentals has compiled its own Algarve top-10, which features Vilamoura at the top, thanks to its selection of 16 golf courses.
“Vilamoura is the number one destination for golfing in the Algarve. This paradise has 16 high-quality golf courses, designed by famous golf architects,” Holidu writes.
Almancil follows as the second best destination for golfers, with its 14 golf courses offering “breathtaking landscapes” and characteristics for both beginners and professionals.
Third place went to Lagos, where the 10 golf courses on offer are “all surrounded by nature”.
“You’ll look around and not see a single construction, so we guarantee you will feel at peace there,” Holidu writes.
The top-five is rounded out by Portimão in fourth place and Carvoeiro in fifth, followed by Albufeira (sixth), Vila Nova de Cacela (seventh), Lagoa (eighth), Castro Marim (ninth) and Alcantarilha (10th).
The study was based on data from the Portuguese Golf Federation and website Leading Courses.
