Algarve golfer Ricardo Santos recorded the first hole-in-one of his career during the second round of the PGA European Tour China Open.
The only Portuguese player currently qualified for the sport’s top tier followed his opening two-under-par 70 with a superb 68 which featured the aforementioned ‘ace’ at the Binhai Lake Golf Club’s par three 8th hole.
“It was the first hole-in-one of my life and it’s only a shame that there wasn’t a car to take home on offer,” the normally shy and retiring 29-year-old enthused afterwards. Santos went on to record further rounds of 69 and 70 to finish the tournament a respectable joint 23rd, ten strokes behind 2012 South African shooting star Branden Grace.
