According to a press statement by the chain, the plastic bottles, marketed for children, have sport caps that can break into small parts, which could lead to choking.
Customers are asked to return the bottles to any H&M store where they will receive a refund.
A source from H&M told Lusa news agency that 15,000 bottles had been sold in 29 countries, but did not reveal how many had been sold in Portugal nor the number of accidents registered so far.
