Yet another tragedy on the EN125, this time claiming the life of a 41-year-old Portuguese woman who was walking alongside the notorious road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to reports, police are now on the trail of the driver who hit the woman pedestrian and kept going.
The victim was left lying in the road, not far from Algarveshopping on the stretch between Guia and Albufeira, writes Correio da Manhã.
The accident happened at 5.38, the paper reports, thus considering the time is so precise, there may well have been witnesses.
An INEM rescue team worked on the woman for “almost an hour”, says CM, “but without success”.
Her body has been taken to the Gabinete Médico-Legal (coroner’s office), while investigations into the identity of the driver continue.
