A WOMAN was seriously injured last week after being involved in a collision with a car in Pateiro, Lagoa.
The 83-year-old woman had been walking along the side of a road when the incident occurred and, according to police, the driver sped away from the scene. The victim was conscious when the ambulance arrived and was transported to Barlavento hospital in Portimão. Although her injuries are serious, doctors say her life is not in danger. The police has launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the driver, but no suspects have yet been arrested.
