A battle dinner was held by the Algarve History Association at Estoi Palace to mark the celebrations of the bicentenary of the Peninsular War.
President of the Freguesia, José Paulo Brito, attended two presentations made by Peter Kingdon Booker, one on the history of the palace and another concentrating on the Battle of Buçaco.
This was an opportunity for history lovers from across the Algarve to meet with like-minded enthusiasts and the next event by the association is to take place tomorrow (Saturday) with a guided walk around Olhão.
Meanwhile, between November 21 and 23 a trip to Mértola in the Alentejo will give participants a chance to learn about the mines and the social impact they had on the area followed by a concert by the Lacerda Quartet.
