Historic building renovated to house new câmara office

Alcoutim Câmara inaugurated a new department for urban and environmental services following renovation of a historic manor house dating back to the 18th century.

The new Department for Urban Works, Planning and Management, Equipment, Environment and Urban Services (Divisão de Obras, Planeamento e Gestão Urbanística, Equipamentos, Ambiente e Serviços Urbanos) is the result of a €340,000 investment by the Câmara to refurbish this section of the building.

Also located in the former manor house is the Alcoutim GNR station, which was inaugurated in September 2012 by Minister of Home Affairs Miguel Macedo.

Renovation work to the entire building represented a total investment of nearly €640,000, which is seen by the Deputy-Mayor José Carlos Pereira as a way of preserving state patrimony to the benefit of residents.
