Hiromi’s Trio performs at Teatro das Figuras

A highly-anticipated performance by Hiromi’s Trio is taking place tomorrow (October 14) at Teatro das Figuras in Faro.

The trio is something of an ‘all-star’ musical group. Pianist Hiromi Uehara is the trio’s songwriter, and is regarded as one of the best Japanese musicians of her generation, known for her virtuosity and lively performances.

She is accompanied on stage by bassist Jimmy Johnson – who has played with James Taylor, Allan Holdsworth, Stan Getz and Sergio Mendes – and drummer Simon Phillips – known for his work with The Who, David Gilmour, Judas Priest and Jack Bruce.

Together they will be presenting the album ‘Spark’, described as Hiromi’s “most sweeping and emotionally overflowing set of music to date”.

“Playing with this trio is like a never-ending adventure,” says Hiromi, who started playing the piano when she was just six years old. “We always play as if this is our first and last show. Every show I feel a spark.”

The concert starts at 9.30pm.

Ticket prices range from €18 to €20 and are available online or at the theatre.
