The wage gap between young people with higher education and those with secondary education has reached “historic lows”, falling from 50% in 2011 to 27% in 2022, concludes a report by the José Neves Foundation (FJN) released today. Even so, the report “State of the Nation: Education, Employment and Competences in Portugal” concludes that employment recovery post-pandemic was “total” among young people with higher education while the level of unemployment of those less qualified rose from 13% in 2019 to 18% in 2022.
