FORMER PARLIAMENTARY deputy Paulo Pedroso and TV comedian Herman José will not stand trial over the Casa Pia sex scandal.
The decision was taken recently by the Lisbon Tribunal da Relação, following strong criticism from the Ministério Público and the weakness of witness statements. The court confirmed that, with regard to Paulo Pedroso, there were insufficient grounds on which to build a case. Pedroso had been accused of sexual crimes by former Casa Pia pupils.
With regard to Herman José, the court agreed with the pronunciation of judge Ana Teixeira e Silva that there were insufficient grounds of evidence that the presenter had committed abuses against minors or young adults, without their consent.
