Silves || When in 2008 a young Hollywood photographer, Jeremy Cowart, decided to photograph underprivileged families and individuals in a photo studio and make them feel like celebrities, even if only for a couple of hours, little did he know he was about to start a humanitarian revolution. His idea led to the creation of the Help-Portrait movement, which has now arrived in the Algarve.
Help-Portrait is a global movement of photographers, hairstylists and makeup artists using their time, tools and expertise to give back to those in need, explains the movement’s portal www.help-portrait.com
In the Algarve, the initiative, taking place on December 6 at the Fissul pavilion in Silves, has already attracted a number of sponsors, such as hair and makeup artists, and even supermarkets and restaurants who will be providing a special meal on the day.
Organisers hope the day will be a memorable one as people in need will be expected to receive the “celebrity treatment”.
