Play with the LPGA Pros
FOR THE fifth consecutive year, the Associação de Solidariedade com as Crianças Carenciadas do Algarve (ACCA), a Portuguese registered charity for children in need in the Algarve, is running a Pro-Am Tournament with the lady professionals, who are playing on the Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA) European Tour.
The date is Monday, June 27 and the place is the Victoria Course in Vilamoura, which has generously donated the green fees. First tee time is 11.10am and participants will be playing a five ball Texas Scramble.
The price of 150 euros per person includes the ‘Meet the Pros’ cocktail party at Barringtons in Vale do Lobo on Sunday, June 26, from 7.30pm, the game (for men and women) on the Victoria Course with a Pro, and the prize-giving dinner and auction at the Millennium restaurant in Vilamoura. Buggies for this event can be booked through ACCA only, at 20 euros each. Additional dinner guests pay 55 euros each. Bookings confirmed only with cash or cheque, payable at Barringtons reception, which will also handle buggy bookings (Tel 289 351 940). All players must have a handicap and be over 18.
Ninety-five per cent of all monies raised will go directly to an individual child or children in a home, or other children below the poverty line who really need help. ACCA will announce exactly where the money will go during the prize-giving dinner.
The Victoria Course in Vilamoura will be home to the World Cup competition in November this year and, as a run-up to this, on June 27, Portugal Sport TV will be filming there for its highlights programme.
