A small fire broke out in Albufeira on Monday, June 29, which was put out with the help of a helicopter.
Dutch resident Brigitta Folmer said: “At around 3pm, a helicopter flew over our property in Branqueira towards Albufeira. You could see there was a fire near the bullring, probably between Montechoro and the new Quinta da Balaia roundabout. The helicopter went back to search for a pool to fill up the sack and finally took water from the pool at the Balaia Golf Village Resort.”
Maria José Pinto from Balaia Golf Village told the Algarve Resident: “The civil protection helicopter came once to take water from our lake which is located opposite the club house.
“We are perfectly happy to support the civil protection authority and fire services in these cases.”
At the time the Algarve Resident went to press on Wednesday, no one from Albufeira bombeiros was available to comment.
