Heavy rain, thunder, wind warnings, flash flooding possible until Friday

Portugal’s civil protection authorities have today called for preventive measures as the weather worsens, forecasting rain, thunderstorms and strong wind until Friday, with the possibility of flooding and flash flooding in some areas of the North and Centre. According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), the national meteorological institute (IPMA) predicts the occurrence of rainfall sometimes heavy with conditions for hail and thunderstorms from this afternoon in the northern region, spreading to the entire country tomorrow – during the morning in some parts of the South and, with greater intensity, in the North and Centre regions especially from the afternoon onwards.
