The Association for the Protection of Animals in the Algarve (APAA), together with three health professionals, is holding a fundraising “Healthy Living Workshop” on Friday, February 24 at Vila Rosa resort in Praia da Rocha, to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition and human body movement for greater longevity and better quality of life.
Marco Pereira, nutritionist with Portimonense Football Club, will provide ideas on how to eat better, without having to give up the occasional glass of wine or “pastel de nata”.
Joel Fernandes, an independent physiotherapist/personal trainer, will show simple strategies for moving better and achieving a more active and vibrant lifestyle.
Bo de la Haye, a 63-year-old visiting Movement Coach and Personal Trainer from Holland, will show the more mature participants that you don’t need to be young to be fit.
Organisers say it will be a fun and interactive workshop – “but don’t worry, you won’t get all hot and sweaty, nor will you need fancy gym or sports gear; just wear something comfortable for easy movement, together with trainers, or go barefoot”.
A “healthy, nutritious lunch” will be provided following the workshop, during which time you will be able to chat to each of the three presenters.
Organisers said: “All the funds raised will go towards helping owners with limited finances to sterilise and care for their pets.”
The cost of the workshop, including lunch, is €20 per person. Places are limited so if you are interested in attending, early booking is advisable.
