WEEKLY PORTUGUESE health publication, Saúde Semanário, will be offering free health screening sessions on two beaches in Lisbon (August 6), as well as two beaches in the Algarve (August 13).
Screenings will be offered to identify the risk factors linked to cardiovascular illnesses – hypertension, cholesterol, obesity and diabetes. Professor Doctor Fernando Pádua of the Instituto de Cardiologia Preventiva firmly supports the initiative, and is making qualified volunteers available to assist with the screening. “The idea behind this project is to remind the general public that, even if they are on holiday, they are still at risk. This is the ideal time to take the first step towards adopting a healthier lifestyle,” he said.
The schedule for the free screenings is as follows:
August 6, Lisbon
Praia de Carcavelos 9am – 12.30pm
Costa da Caparica – Praia da Riviera 3pm – 6pm
August 13, Algarve
Praia da Rocha 9am – 12.30pm
Praia de Monte Gordo 3pm – 6pm
