Health prevention on exhibition

FREE HEALTH tests will be on offer at the ‘Expo Saúde – Prevenção em Exposição’, a public exhibition devoted to preventative medicine, taking place from May 7 to 9, in the Feira Nova hypermarket car park in Mem Martins.

For three days, over 200 volunteers and health professionals will be available to perform tests and offer advice to members of the public, free of charge, on how best to improve their health.

Visitors will be able to find out if they have high cholesterol levels, whether they have a particular susceptibility to cardiac disease and even take the Harvard Physical Endurance test to measure their precise percentage of body fat and check if they are as healthy as they should be for their age group.

One of the largest events of its type in Portugal, Expo-Saúde is an initiative of Sintra Câmara and the International Temperance Association, in collaboration with the Portuguese Association of Preventative Medicine and the support of Feira Nova which have provided the location and logistical support.

Each evening of the event will include a lecture (in Portuguese) given by a leading physician on popular aspects of preventative medicine covering topics including smoking, heart disease and diabetes.
