Health Ministry team to visit every Algarve borough

Minister and Secretaries of State to visit 16 municipalities

Every municipality in the Algarve will be visited today by at least one major representative from the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Manuel Pizarro has travelled to the region accompanied by Secretary of State for Health Promotion Margarida Tavares and Secretary of State for Health Ricardo Mestre, each of whom will be travelling to different boroughs to make sure no part of the Algarve is left out of the governmental field trip.

The visit is part of the ‘Saúde Aberta’ (Open Health) initiative and aims to put the Health Ministry bosses in direct contact with public health centres and hospitals and “get to know each unit and the investments that are underway”.

The event will end with a meeting with the Algarve Municipalities Association (AMAL) to sign a series of agreements which will “decentralise” several health services.
