Over 200 nurses have been informed by health service bosses that salary increases they received in 2018 were ‘incorrect’ and need to be repaid.
The claw back of amounts overpaid will be effected ‘at source’, seeing each nurse ‘lose’ almost 2000 euros over 18 months.
Says a source for SEP – the syndicate of Portuguese nurses – the development could end up affecting over 20,000 nurses.
For now, it is being applied to those employed in four central hospitals (Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Guimarães, Penafiel and the IPO in Porto).
