Health minister considers political pressure over a clinical decision “unacceptable”

Quizzed today on the ‘favoritism controversy’ embroiling the country’s president, health minister Manuel Pizarro has said it is “unacceptable” that a clinical decision could be overridden by political pressure. Mr Pizarro’s words could add to the heat on this issue, as some might interpret them as referring to the doctors who were so uncomfortable over what they saw as the preferential treatment given to the twins, that they went to the press about it – resulting in the current national furore. But, at least according to SIC Notícias, Mr Pizarro has said he does not think this has been a case of favoritism.
