Happy days for speedsters: road safety authority unable to send out tickets

For the 3rd year running, ANSR – the national road safety authority – has been unable to send out speeding tickets to ‘offending drivers’ in time for them not to have lapsed. How can this happen in the 21st century? According to Público, picked up by SIC television news, it is all because ANSR suffers “several months without a mail service”. Last year, for example, there were six months in which fines were simply left to moulder. The year before it was very similar. The information comes from the RASI (homeland security) reports for 2021 and 2022, but as SIC explains, neither explains why there was no mail service.
