TEN YEARS on and Medal, insurance brokers in Portimão, are still a name you can trust when it comes to insurance. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this month, managing director, Henrique Pinheiro, partner José Baptista and their team of 10 are embracing the future of Medal with open arms.
Their goal to provide a quality, professional and personal insurance service for businesses and individual clients in the Algarve has been at the heart of the company from day one, as has Henrique. He has worked within the field of insurance throughout his professional career, beginning with Royal Insurance (now Royal & SunAlliance), before moving to the Algarve in 1985. He knows how the market works, has vast experience in insurance and a feeling for his clients, something shared by each of his staff. Medal has a team of proven professionals with experience in all classes of insurance, both national and international.
Medal specialises in two kinds of insurance – business and individual. With well-known Portuguese companies from the tourist, leisure and construction areas as well as a vast number of expatriate clients on their books, Medal is a name that instils confidence.
When you go to Medal for your insurance, be it personal, health, car or home, a personalised report, analysing your needs, will be drawn up for you. Medal will then obtain the most competitive price and best insurance policy. Once you have your policy, Medal will protect your assets, defend your interests, provide continuous and permanent management of your policy as well as answer any questions you may have.
As an independent company, Medal is relatively small when compared with other insurance brokers but, according to 2003 figures, they are the leading insurance company in the Algarve.
Medal would like to expand in 2006 with another office, more central to their clients. “It would be a good gift to ourselves and our clients,” Henrique said. “We are always looking out for the interests of our clients and we are proud to do so.”
By the end of January, their updated website will be up and running, allowing clients to see exactly what they need to make a claim and answer any questions in the comfort of their own home.
Medal’s special relationship with AFPOP, the association for foreign property owners and residents living in Portugal, means that the latter can offer its members reduced prices on policies.
