John Stafford from Scarborough has been warned by his doctor that he must stay indoors on Halloween or he will put his life at risk.
The 54-year-old has an unbearable fear of spiders and has been told that even spotting a rubber spider could cause a fatal heart attack because his heart is so bruised.
Hypnosis, pills and every other available treatment have been unable to cure John of his phobia, who said “I stop breathing and pass out” after seeing the creepy crawlies.
