GUATEMALA – 21 dead after bus plunges into ravine

A collision between two buses on a mountain highway in Guatemala has left 21 people dead and at least 20 others injured. A bus full of evangelical Christians heading for a religious festival, smashed into an oncoming bus and then hurtled into a 165ft ravine. The bus carrying the churchgoers was travelling along a steeply descending, winding road about 110 miles from Guatemala City when it collided with the other bus.

18 of the passengers were killed immediately, the other three died in hospital. Among the dead at the scene were four children and the bus driver. Unbelievably, no one on the other bus was killed.
