Despite doubts expressed by the Troika, Portugal’s economic growth accelerated more than estimated in the fourth quarter last year, final data published by Statistics Portugal has revealed.
GDP grew a seasonally adjusted 0.6% quarter-over-quarter in the three months to December, which was slightly faster than the 0.5% gain that the government had estimated. In the third quarter, stress statistics, the Portuguese economy grew 0.3%, although overall, it shrank 1.4% from 2012.
