With the fire onboard finally out, the Greta K tanker carrying diesel and jet fuel is due to be towed into Leixões port, where the releasing of her cargo will hopefully be able to take place without further incident. Giving a press conference today, ports commander Humberto da Silva Rocha stressed that for the time being there have been no leaks, and therefore no risk of pollution. Priority is to get the damaged boat into safe harbour, and then “pass to the next phase, which will have to do with stabilising the situation and eventually unloading her cargo”. An inquiry meantime is ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
