Greens support nudist  beach proposal

Portugal’s Green party has backed a call by nudists in the Algarve for more beaches to be legalised for the practice of nudism.

Álvaro Campos, President of the Clube Naturista Algarve (CNA), has been received by almost all of the core political parties, with the green party having presented a proposal to parliament to change the current law.

The main proposals to change the existing law, which Álvaro Campos describes as being ‘out of date’, are to allow more than one nudist beach per council and to reduce the legal distance of beaches to 500 metres instead of 1,500 metres from urban areas.

Despite CNA having identified 12 beaches that are tolerated and adequate for nudism, only Adegas beach in Aljezur and Barril beach in Tavira are legal for this activity.
