GREEN STRIPES were painted onto the tyres of F1 cars during the Japanese Grand Prix in a bid to promote the environmental campaign of the F1 governing body, the FIA.
The campaign is backed by leading teams and prominent drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, who said: “The campaigns help to show us we can all drive in a greener way.”
In 2009, F1 cars will be using kinetic energy recovery systems to utilise wasted heat lost during braking.
FIA president Max Mosley believes that new rules and campaigns will put motorsport at the heart of environmental developments.
