Raising funds for the Algarve Oncology Association, Galeria Côrte-Real in Paderne presents a new exhibition promoting women’s paintings alongside beautifully baked savoury and sweet cuisine.
Featuring traditional and innovative recipes, the food is being created by restaurateurs and accomplished home bakers. For sale, to take-away or eat outside on the gallery’s terrace, these delectable foodstuffs can be enjoyed with a complimentary glass of wine or a cup of English tea. The Women’s Collective Exhibition created by 16 gifted women artists embodies a true cross-section of women’s contemporary art. Paintings include sensual nudes, maritime scenes, architectural studies, land and skyscapes and colourful abstractions.
Taking place on May 26 and 27, a small entry charge of €2 is being made during the weekend to be donated to the charity.
The Women’s Collective Exhibition has an emphasis on raising money for the research, screening and treatment of breast cancer.
The gallery also displays ceramics, sculptures, art books and cards, shabby-chic chandeliers, hand-crafted candelabras, wall sconces, lamps and affordable limited-edition ‘gyclees’.
Contributing bakers are Heather Turner of Casa do Largo, Vilamoura, Jonnie Pratt of Bistro des Z’Artes, Almancil, The Algarve Baker Boy, Avril Casey, Sally Ricciardi, William Weber and more. Carolyn Kain
