Once again the popular Grand Night of Variety with a long list of professional artists will be gracing the stage of the Lagoa auditorium on Friday, November 20.
Ian Carfrae will be your host for the evening and will be introducing such stars as Pinky Steed, the well known Bahamian Cabaret singer, and for the first time JJJohns, who specialises in traditional country music. He will be singing songs made famous by the greatest singers of the genre such as Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash George Jones and Merle Haggard. His own CD recorded in America has many original songs in which he duets with veteran Ernie Ashwood and the ‘Queen of the Honkey Tonk’ Heather Myles. JJ’s CD is played by DJs of country western radio programmes all over the world.
Organiser Jenny Grainer told us: “This is just to give you a brief idea of the great artists you can see this year and there are many more.
“Bookings are already doing well so make sure you reserve your ticket soon. Don’t be disappointed like last year when we had to turn people away.”
The charity benefitting from this year’s ticket money will be the Centro de Apoio Social de Carvoeiro, a day care centre for babies, toddlers and pre-school children allowing parents to work and, where they can, pay a contribution to the centre. Where incomes are not sufficient Lagoa council gives some support, also social services, but never enough.
“The director would dearly love to build two more school rooms plus buy additional equipment and your money will go towards fulfilling some of these aims,” said Jenny.
Tickets cost €14.
