Legendary Portuguese fado singer Carlos do Carmo was due to receive the highest honour of his career at the Hollywood MGM Theatre in Las Vegas, USA, as the Resident went to press on Wednesday.
The “Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award” comes after a glittering 50 years in the business.
The Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences stressed it was only sad that Carlos do Carmo had not been distinguished earlier.
