Government willing to review state workers’ salaries – PM

Prime minister António Costa has shown willingness to review public sector workers’ salaries, writes Lusa this afternoon. Responding to a question from PCP communists during a debate on government policy, Mr Costa said: “We know that the final inflation of 2022 was 7.8% and, therefore, we are willing to have a revision, taking into account what the change is”. The PM also said that, as part of his government’s policies to respond to the increase in inflation, his executive will announce new “support measures for more vulnerable families”. The time scale given was ‘next week’: “We are waiting for what is the result of last year’s budget execution to be confirmed at the end of this week so that we can adopt (these) two types of measures,” he said.
