Increasing the exceptional period of nighttime flights in and out of Lisbon was never meant to be ‘on the table’, but today the government has categorically said that it will not sanction any prolonging of the misery that has affected so many local residents already. The six week period, requested by the country’s air traffic control company NAV, came to an end today. In other words, the ‘announcement’ that the government is not prolonging it does appear to be another case of powermakers blowing a trumpet into a mirror in a darkened room.
