Government wants to have “most competitive start up laws in world”

Today is proving to be a day of ‘announcements’. They are coming thick and fast. Portugal’s minister of economy and the sea has been telling a joint press conference with tech entrepreneur Paddy Cosgrove, ahead of the 7th (and apparently largest) Web Summit coming to Lisbon next month that the government is preparing a start-up law which aims to be “one of hte most competitive in the world”. When asked to give details, he said: “I don’t want to elaborate too much” but “it will be a law that we intend to be very attractive, that is linked to the trends that we are seeing today in the market, that is a law that can give more strength to the ecosystem that we have, also look at the issues of funding and the funding model of startups and technologies and also from the tax point of view…”
