Minister for the environment Duarte Cordeiro has reiterated the government warning to fuel companies that measures will be put in place if they are considered to be making excess profits out of drivers’ misery. Today has seen another ‘brutal increase’ in the prices of petrol and diesel. Energy sector regulator ERSE will now analyse profit margins being made by suppliers. If it sees the “necessity for intervention” the government “will not hesitate”, said Mr Cordeiro.
