Government set to ease IRS extra tax by €190 million

Delighted by its boost in tax revenue – and affirming this proves the Portuguese economy is growing – the coalition government has pledged to reduce the IRS “extra tax” that it brought to 2.6% in 2016. According to media reports, this translates into an effective return to people of around €190 million. The payback is dependent on the right-wing coalition being returned to power in October’s elections.
