Government recognition for Algarve winery

Wine and art park Quinta dos Vales, was honoured last week by the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries (Direção Regional de Agricultura e Pescas do Algarve – DRAPALG) for its contribution towards the production and appreciation of quality Algarve produce.

It was a week full of highlights for the local winery, as its Marquês dos Vales’ wines were also awarded with two medals in the sixth competition of The Best Wine of the Algarve held recently at the Fatacil fair in Lagoa.

The awards ceremony dinner for the 6th Algarvian Wine Competition, organised by DRAPALG, was held on August 17 at the Picadeiro Restaurant at Fatacil, during which tribute was paid to Quinta dos Vales, along with four other companies, for being at the forefront of promotion and awareness of regional Algarvian produce.

This recognition was also owed to the fact that Quinta dos Vales has represented the region, nationally and internationally, with a growing number of awards and medals, bringing notoriety to the Algarve and its wines.

A statement from Quinta dos Vales read: “This institutional recognition, complemented by the Gold medals won for the Grace Vineyard white and Grace Viognier, both from the 2012 harvest, and the Grand Gold Medal received by the latter, crowning it The Best Wine of The Algarve, helps keep us motivated in the search for quality and excellence in our products. These recent prizes have reaffirmed the success that Quinta dos Vales has celebrated internationally so far this year.”
