Government programme to lure citizens into interior registers ‘no takers’

The programme “Chave na Mão” (literal translation: key in the hand) announced by prime minister António Costa with the objective of taking homeowners from coastal areas to the interior has raised no interest, reports Jornal de Notícias. This programme was the only measure in the PS government’s New Generation of Housing Policies designed for areas of low populational density. Despite being announced in 2018, the programme only came into effect last year.
