It’s European Community funding and it has to be spent by 2020, or Portugal risks having to pay some of it back! The €320 million that the government says it has to spend on school refurbishments will be split €200 million to €120 million, between secondary and primary schools. Two hundred secondary schools are due for facelifts, while 300 primary schools will benefit from the €120 million of spending money.
