The government is launching a programme (to appear on the Social Security Direct platform from Monday) aimed at offering homeless people the chance of a roof over their heads. According to an ordinance (portaria) published in Diário da República the plan is to offer 600 ‘slots’, either for an individual apartment, or shared accommodation. The initiative is part of a wider plan to home 1,100 rough-sleepers by the end of this year.
