Rundown health centres in inadequate buildings are to become a feature of the past. Health minister Adalberto Campos Fernandes has announced that the government will be building 63 new health centres (14 of them in Lisbon) in a €34 million investment backed by European Funding. There is no programme of works yet but the plan, say reports, is to start with replacing the worst health centres first.
