Government drafts new cyberspace security strategy

Portugal’s secretary of state for digitalisation has said the new National Strategy for Cyberspace Security is “in the drafting phase”, along with a law that transposes the directive on Network Security and Information Systems. Mário Campolargo was speaking at the parliamentary committee on Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing as part of a hearing today. “The digital nation that we want to build is made with the notion that our commitment to technology and innovation can only be based on the prior and unwavering commitment to the primacy of the human person and the fundamental principles of the democratic rule of law,” he said, stressing that “it is in this spirit” that Portugal is committed to discussing key issues at European level.
