Portugal’s government has said that “it’s time to return to diplomacy” to find a solution for the Middle East and said that this conflict “does not distract” the European Union from the ongoing war in Ukraine. “What is needed now is to guarantee respect for international law and avoid an escalation of the conflict in the region. We need to return to diplomacy,” the secretary of state for European affairs, Tiago Antunes, said on the sidelines of the plenary session of the European Parliament, which took place this week in the French city of Strasbourg.
