Government believes in 6.4% growth in GDP this year

Portugal’s government is working with a GDP growth rate this year of 6.4%, an upward revision from the previously expected 4.9%, writes Lusa today. The announcement came from finance minister Fernando Medina during the presentation this morning of the package of measures to support families through the effects of inflation. Mr Medina said Portugal will be “the economy that will grow most in the European Union” and that “contrary to what some people say”, the economy “is not growing more today because it has fallen more”. He stresses that public debt to GDP should come in below the 120.7% forecast in the budget.
